The new 100% electric MINI has a 120mile range from it's lithium ion battery. It goes on sale in afew months!! What the hell is takeing G.M. so long!!

There are no savings with the Volt. The price is estimated at $40K to $48K. Automobile critics have dubbed it "Grandma's electric vehicle." The production Volt is hideous and bland. Nissan has already developed an electric car that gets TWICE the mileage as the Volt.

yeah, talk about a flop of a car before it even hit's the markets. this is a little californian's toy at best, and pointless projects like this are pushing the big 3 into the ground. They should go back to making cars that people will actually buy, not spending their money on publicity stunts.

Not to mention that battery range is slashed drastically in cold weather anyway.

so, the reason i'm asking is because if you use the battery to run the motors AND the heater (heaters eat a fuckload of power)then it cuts the hell out of your range. so what's the point to own one in the top third of the country?

Hmm...i dont know why everyone is so negative. The volt's a good idea. Its electric most of the time, 40 miles are enough. The Toyota prius is realy just a petrol car with a small battery, its almost pointless. The Toyota RAV4 EV and GM EV1 are too impracticle with battery only power...so the volt is the best compromise |
