"Rush Hour" is one of the few successful singles by Jane Weidlin released in July 1988, original version taken from the album FUR. This is the super rare 12" extended remix version. Format 7", 12", CD, cassette Label EMI-Manhattan Records Writer(s) Jane Wiedlin, Peter Rafelson Producer(s) Stephen Hague Peak chart positions #9 (USA) #12 (UK) Jane Wiedlin singles chronology "Blue Kiss" (1985) "Rush Hour" (1988) "Inside a Dream" (1988) This single was backed by a fellow album track, the percussive, melancholy "End of Love". The 12" single featured an extended remix by Rusty Garner and an instrumental version. "Rush Hour" was Wiedlin's most successful single, reaching the Top 10 in the USA and the Top 20 in Britain. The song is upbeat and features a mainly programmed backing, with an electric guitar solo. Its central hook is "Oooh you send me". The music video which accompanied the single eschewed the traffic metaphor of the song for a lighter concept; a simple "performance" clip interspersed with footage of Wiedlin swimming with dolphins. A cover version by Joyrider was heard in the closing seconds of the last episode in the second series of This Life, in 1997. The original was recently remixed by a team of producers including James Hockley and Ed Lucas, as well as two unnamed but "well known" music industry figures, under the moniker "SJB". This mix was featured on the Ministry of Sound 2007 Annual.

I totally agree with U on that issue... rap is for homeboys who can't sing, they just promote streetgang violence. This song came out during my senior year in high school. Good times!

Some songs like people have the rare ability to move you emotionally & you can`t explain why. This song for me reminds me of the year i left school & i never did know who sung it (until now) so years would go by with out thinking about it & then catch a piece of it on the radio & regardless where i was i`d be transported back to very happy memories, god i love you tube & all who sail in her.

I'm hoping iTunes will put this 12" mix in their library database. It's been 20 years the last time I heard this song. Thank you for posting this... I'm back in nostalgia lane.
